Episode 32: Opening Day Snapper Madness

Featuring: Fuzzell aka Grant Fennell, Gawaine Blake, Winga and other new faces.

For one month every year, Novemeber, the snapper fishery in South Australia is closed to professional and recreational fishers alike.  This no-take period was implemented to allow mature stock to spawn without interference from man ensuring the resource remains sustainable and contiues to thrive into the future. During this time huge shoals of big snapper congregate on the inshore and offshore reefs of the Spencer Gulf.  This is where they do their business and generally live it up.  As a result, the natural food sources on these reefs takes a hammering and by months end the big angry hoards are starting to get very hungry.  So you can imagine the mayhem on November 30th each year when the season is re-opened and anglers hit these reefs at 12 noon with fresh food and lures that looks like it.  Well, this show is about that moment, when the first baits and plastics float down into the depths and onto the heads of these hungry mega beasts.  There is simply nothing else like it on earth and this is the reason why Winga and Gawaine took the cameras there last year - to capture the madness as it unfolded.  In this show they hook-up with Fuzzell at Arno Bay and go looking for action on an inshore then an offshore reef.  What they film will not disappoint you, in fact what you will see on this episode has since become the single most epic piece of snapper fishing ever filmed.  What else else would you expect from the Think BIG Crew, Arno Bay and YouFishTV.  During the final battle, which is nuts, you will get to see why Squidgy 145mm flickbaits are one of the best soft plastic lures ever made for snapper.  Enjoy!
